BLM Open House on West Mojave Route Network Project

While public comments will not be taken at this meeting, you are encouraged to attend this "Open House" to talk with Bureau of Land Management employees in preparation for making a written comment directly to the BLM by the June 14 deadline.  On March 16 the BLM published a draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement and draft Land Use Plan Amendment for the West Mojave Route Network. The announcement indicates, "A major component of the draft supplemental environmental analysis includes a complete inventory of travel routes within the Western Mojave planning area."

You can view the proposed routes on the WEMO Online Interactive Map, and can view the draft SEIS document and open a fillable comment form at this link.

County Planning Commission, Renewable Energy Issue

A Planning Commission Hearing has been scheduled for April 26 "Regarding San Bernardino County Renewable Energy and Conservation Element Policy 4.10 and Draft Alternative Policy Language." THIS MEETING WILL ALSO BE VIDEOCONFERENCED AT THE JOSHUA TREE GOVERNMENT CENTER, 63665 Twentynine Palms Highway, Joshua Tree.

The official notice of this hearing from the Land Use Services Department details the history of the policy development and the details of the specific 4.10 language at issue.  MBCA believes the original 4.10 language - not the revision submitted by Land Use Services - best preserves the right of desert communities to be free of the health-affecting dust and natural ecosystem degradation that would come with more renewable energy developments in desert communities.
