MBCA Annual Meeting 2024

The focus of this year’s annual meeting will be ‘Keeping it Local’ with the opportunity to discuss and learn how to nurture and conserve the things we cherish about this special place in the Hi-Desert. We will also include important general desert topics, including how the desert fits into the state’s 30x30 program and the latest on the proposed Chuckwalla National Monument. Issues to be discussed include:
  • MBCA’s local educational projects, 8th grade field trips and high school scholarships
  • Chuckwalla National Monument and the desert’s role in California’s 30x30 climate change program.
  • Solar issues, large scale and rooftop
  • The upcoming Desert-Wise Landscape Tour (In-person Tour on Sunday, April 21, details to be posted by early March)
  • The new Light Trespass Ordinance to protect our dark night sky
  • Status of the many pending development proposals in the Basin
  • The status of the Program 4 report on the effect of STRs and updates on efforts to identify housing solutions
  • The state of water in the Morongo Basin

We will serve delicious food throughout the event. There is no charge to attend, but we encourage you to take this opportunity to renew your MBCA membership!
