- Save the Western Joshua Tree
It is only a few weeks until the fate of the Joshua tree for future generations is decided by the California Fish and Game Commission. The critical meeting is on June 16 when the Commission will consider whether to declare the tree a threatened species under the California Environmental Quality Act. In this eblast we provide a number of ways you can help make that happen.
Plan to attend the Rally to Save the Western Joshua Tree at Mojave Desert Land Trust in Joshua Tree on Thursday, May 26 at 5 p.m. Speakers, information tables, and even kid-friendly activities are scheduled.
The locally-created Protect the Joshua Tree website provides photos, a video, maps, explanations and further links.
For an audio education about the Western Joshua Tree, tune in to the 90 Miles from Needles podcast with Chris Clarke and Alicia Pike.
Another podcast to check out is the interview of local Joshua tree activists Casey Kiernan and Christina Sanchez with Gary Daigneault of local radio station KCDZ 107.7 FM.
Christina Sanchez maintains the Every Leaf Speaks website, which provides even more information.
Please use these sources to learn more and take action in support of the Western Joshua tree. MBCA will send updates as the Commission meeting gets closer.
Thank you for supporting conservation in our Mojave Desert environment.
