At their regular meeting one November 3, the San Bernardino County Supervisors again approved the Lovemore Ranch development in Joshua Tree, with minimal changes in response to a court decision following a lawsuit by Joshua Tree Village Neighbors.
MBCA's comment letter as well as numerous public comments at the meeting outlined well-researched concerns about stormwater and sewage issues, as well as traffic and density concerns. Following public comment and Supervisors' questions, the Planning staff sought to answer stormwater and sewage concerns by countering that the law does not require final design plans on those areas until later in the project and that those designs will be held to regulation requirements. The approval was 4–1 with Supervisor Cook against.
MBCA appealed the initial Planning Commission approval in 2025 (rejected by the Supervisors) and has closely followed the twists and turns of this development and legal actions against it. Links below provide a history of actions and decisions on the development as reported by MBCA.
