Let's Go Shopping

SHOPPING PREP

We visited nurseries here in the Morongo Basin and further afield to compile a list of sources for drought tolerant and native plants. Some of these nurseries list their inventory online and others even have helpful blogs or videos.

The robust poaching trade has put cactus on a list of the five most threatened groups of organisms, alongside coral reefs. Buy cactus from reputable sources to make sure that you’re not contributing to illegal harvesting or importing pests from infected plants.

Steer clear of ornamental plants that act as invasives in the Morongo Basin.

When shopping at nurseries outside the Morongo Basin, don’t rely on sales staff to know our conditions. Look through our recommended Learning Resources to make sure that the plants you want will work in the high desert.
