I've been involved with MBCA since 2011 as a docent for the Desert-Wise Landscape Tours. I was also an advisor to MBCA from 2013-2016. Recently I joined the Tour committee in working out the details of this popular event. In 2018 I began assisting with social media management for MBCA, a job that has grown in importance due to more people relying upon online information. I also assist with the mbconservation.org website, contributing graphics, content and analytics reporting. In 2021 we launched a Desert-Wise Living section of the site, with an accompanying plant spotlight.
A project I was lucky enough to be involved in has been video production of the Desert-Wise Landscaping Tours, created in light of the pandemic. These popular videos have elevated public awareness of MBCA's conservation role in the Morongo Basin. Check out all of the video tours on our YouTube playlist.
I have lived in Joshua Tree for 15 years. During that time I helped start the group Transition Joshua Tree. In 2020 I successfully ran for a seat on the Board of Directors of the Joshua Basin Water District, where I now serve as vice-president.
My work with MBCA aligns with my beliefs: the need for a cohesive response to climate change, and desert conservation and preservation. I'm humbled to be associated with such a brilliant group of folks -- my fellow board members.
