Susan's 100th birthday party was held on June 22nd at the Oasis Visitor Center of Joshua Tree National Park. Most of MBCA's Directors were able to attend to honor Susan's legacy for the Park and the Morongo Basin. Ruth Rieman read a birthday message to Susan from MBCA (see below) and Park Superintendent David Smith promised Susan continued, dedicated stewardship of the Park in the future. David presented Susan with a "Susan Luckie Reilly doll," which is clothed in a Park uniform.

A Birthday Wish and Promise for Susan Luckie Reilly on this 100th birthday of an incredible life!
Susan today we are standing on your and your team’s shoulders. You campaigned successfully back in 1969 to 1980 and created the Morongo Basin Conservation Association to stop the transportation of electrical energy from the east of us through the Morongo Basin on huge transmission lines that served no benefit for the communities here. You rode the bucking bronco and never let go until the threat of falling off passed. Today the bronco still bucks but following yours and your fellow bronc riders examples, we have the confidence to hold on and never, never let go!!
Because of your continuing coaching and inspiration the Morongo Basin thrives today in a healthy and surviving community of activists where one person feels their voice does make a difference.
We can only imagine Minerva Hoyt with a smile on her face and her wishes for you today as we join to celebrate your birthday here on June, 22, 2016.
You are amazing Susan. We are humbled by your life and your accomplishments.
Our best birthday wishes from the Morongo Basin Association’s 2016 board of directors.
